Briefly describe RTO timer operation.

What will be an ideal response?

The RTO is a retentive timer on delay. This timer works the same as the TON except this instruction is retentive. Being retentive, the instruction remembers its accumulated time value if the rung goes false. Also, if for some reason power is lost to the PLC and the battery is good, then the instruction remembers or retains its accumulated value.
