Explain the relationship between the reinforcement pathway and schizophrenia.

What will be an ideal response?

The mesolimbic pathway is involved with the positive symptoms of schizophrenia. It is also a link for reinforcement, such as in drug addiction. In fact, drugs that are agonists (such as cocaine) can reinforce behavior and produce positive symptoms of schizophrenia. If reinforcement mechanisms are activated at inappropriate times, it is possible that inappropriate behaviors may be reinforced.
