For Reading 20.5, Cervantes’s Don Quixote: How would you describe Don Quixote and Sancho Panza’s relationship in this early episode from the novel?

What will be an ideal response?

Don Quixote is a highly satirical recreation of a conquistador, whose exploits in the Americas were, Cervantes understood, similarly inspired by a thirst for romantic adventuring. Don Quixote’s enthusiasm and self-deception unintentionally produce comic results. Sancho Panza, on the other hand, is a down-to-earth realist who believes the Don to be a bit crazy but plays along and accompanies him as squire on his adventures, hoping to get rich.
