Explain the basis of constructivism in terms of Anderson’s “imagined communities.”
What will be an ideal response?
“Identity communities are “imagined” in the sense that they exist because people believe they do: people come to see themselves as parts of particular communities based on particular traits. These communities are flexible, though they typically change relatively slowly. Furthermore, individuals are members of a number of different groups at the same time. Elites can attempt to mobilize people using the discourse and symbols of any one of several identities in a particular time and place” (from the textbook).
