Differentiate between literal and figurative analogies, give an example of each, and explain the

recommendations for using them.

What will be an ideal response?

A figurative analogy is a comparison between two seemingly dissimilar things. For
example you could say, ?My mother?s love washed over me like a wave.? A literal
analogy is the comparison of two similar things. For example you could compare an
apple to a pear. When using analogies it is important to remember to compare two very
similar things when using a literal analogy. Also, make the similarity between the two
objects very clear when using a figurative analogy.
