Verbal communication is a primary form of communication to express thoughts, feeling, and ideas. One could say, "Contrary to what your parents may think, I love you and believe we should elope and go to Paris." Another form of communication is through writing and reading. You need to look for a sign to indicate where a bathroom is in a public place. You also write essays to share information. Facial expressions are another form of communication to show our internal emotion. Six universal facial expressions include disgust, sadness, happiness, fear, anger, and surprise. Gestural communication is another modality and includes manual communication, finger spelling, and sign language. The last modality is touch communication and it can be used for comfort. A handshake can be used as a greeting or to show love.
