How does E. coli measure the Trp levels in the cell to regulate its synthesis?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: The translation of two Trp codons in the leader sequence of the RNA allows the ribosome to proceed along the mRNA in a way that allows hairpin formation and termination of transcription. When Trp is not present, the ribosome stops and the hairpin may form. A pause of the RNA polymerase synchronizes the transcription and translation events.
