3. Air Quality Index (AQI): Ground-level ozone, particle pollution (also known as particulate matter), carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide.

5. Primary causes: Cars and heavy-duty trucks which emit ozone, particulate matter, and other smog-forming emissions.
6. Effects: Health effects can range from headaches to death; economic effects include illness, lost days at work, hospital spending, premature death, reduction in crop yields, clean-up costs.
