Describe and define the differences between a leader directed leadership style and a group directed leadership style

What will be an ideal response?

Another way to conceptualize leadership styles is based on the extent to which the group is leader-centered or group-centered (Jacobs, Masson & Harvill, 2016; Schuh,
Zhang, & Tian, 2013). In a leader-centered group, the leader is the center of focus, and he or she determines what will most benefit group members. In this kind of group, the leader may emphasize a predetermined theme, a sequence of structured exercises, or a format for each group session and likely will direct interaction quite assertively at times. Group members are expected to cooperate with the leader and to deal with personal issues as they fit into the leader’s agenda. By contrast, a more group-centered style encourages members to establish the agenda for the group and to more freely discuss personal concerns, issues, and plans. Each of these styles can facilitate the growth of group members, depending upon the group’s purpose, the expectations and personalities of group members, and the leader’s ability to apply techniques and interventions in a comfortable, congruent, and sensitive manner.
