Discuss the connection between symbolic capital, symbolic power, and symbolic violence as per Bourdieu’s work.

What will be an ideal response?

Those who possess symbolic capital possess the authority to make the world through a “magical power” that transforms and disguises what is the result of the self-interested exercise of economic and political domination into the naturally inevitable. Bourdieu uses the term symbolic violence to refer to acts leading to the misrecognition of reality or distortion of underlying power relations. The power to name the world—to “make people see and believe”—is dependent on the amount of symbolic capital (charisma, authority, recognition) one possesses, which, in turn, is dependent on the outcome of previous struggles as well as one’s position within the relevant field.
