How are vectors related to the Cartesian coordinate system?

What will be an ideal response?

A vector is characterized as a number of components resulting in a force of a given magnitude and direction. These components can be represented using a Cartesian coordinate system to determine a starting and ending point and a direction on a surface (x and y axis) or in space (x, y, and z axis). In its simplest form, a vector is a measure based in geometry and parallelogram law. Vectors are usually indicated in boldface as "a" and are show in graphical form using arrows.
