Compare and contrast intentions and subjective norms as defined within the theory of planned behavior
Intentions are the "instructions people give to themselves to behave in certain ways" or the determination to act in a certain way. In forming intentions, people tend to consider the outcome of their behavior and the opinion of significant others before acting (perceived social pressure). The subjective norm is the perceived social pressure to perform or not perform the behavior.
