In classical conditioning, individuals learn to associate a neutral stimulus with a meaningful stimulus
and come to respond in the same way to the neutral stimulus as they naturally responded to the
meaningful stimulus. In operant conditioning, individuals increase their behavior when it is frequently
paired with a reinforcer and decrease their behavior when it is frequently paired with a punishment.
