What is plant tissue culture?

What will be an ideal response?

A small bit of plant is put in a nutritive material in culture dish, and the characteristics of that original plant part disappear, and an unorganized mass of cells called a callus develops. The callus is then broken up, and using a so-called "gene gun" the genes of interest hopefully are "shot" into the cells. Plant hormones are added, and the cells will ultimately differentiate into the parts of a plant embryo, and grow into a plant that has the gene incorporated in the DNA of all of the plant's cells.
