What makes memorization a problematic study technique?
What will be an ideal response?
Memory is fleeting, particularly when students don't see the significance of the information they are memorizing. This may help students prepare for certain questions depending on the exam, but they will likely forget this information soon after the exam--not exactly the goal of a college education.
Memorization is also a problematic study technique when professors are expecting more than regurgitation. Making connections across topics and applying concepts are more likely expectations of professors in college.
