Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of work specialization

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Work specialization can improve organizational efficiency by enabling each worker to perform tasks that are well defined and that require specific skills. When employees concentrate on the same specialized tasks, they can perfect their skills and perform their tasks more quickly. In addition to aligning skills with job tasks, specialization prevents overlapping responsibilities and communication breakdowns. However, organizations can overdo specialization. If a task is defined too narrowly, employees may become bored with performing the same limited, repetitious job over and over. They may also feel unchallenged and alienated.
