A different version of the browning thesis has taken hold among some sociologists. What is this version?

What will be an ideal response?

Varies. Students should discuss that Feagin and O'Brien put a positive spin on the idea of the declining White numerical majority. They believe that as non-White groups grow in size, Whites will be forced to share power in a more democratic, egalitarian, and inclusive fashion. This shift will be more likely to the extent that minority groups can forge alliances with one another. In contrast with the whitening thesis, this view of the browning thesis expects Latinos and Asian Americans to embrace a more color-conscious worldview and find ways to leverage their growing numbers, in alliance with African Americans, to improve their status in American society.
