Women are more likely to suffer childhood abuse or other types of trauma compared to men. Survivors of multiple traumas may experience cumulative effects from re-victimization. These individuals may be less resilient and more vulnerable to develop psychiatric disorders including depression, PTSD, and other anxiety disorders.
