Discuss sectarian conflict and why they occur in society?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: When one religion dominates society where other religions are present there can be conflict. The conflicts may not be focused on the difference of beliefs, but on resources, power, and a shared space. For example, there is conflict between Muslims and Jewish communities over the Holy Land in the Middle East. Other conflicts include, Muslims and Christians in Bosnia and Kosovo; and between Sunni and Shiite Muslims in Iraq and Pakistan. As well as Sikhs, Hindus, and Muslims in India. These conflicts are due to shared religious space as well as institutional power and amount of resources available to each group in the region.
