Some examples of differences are: New Zealand has the no-fault insurance plan to cover anyone who is injured by an accident or crime victimization, and a government official can be held accountable for failing to ensure victims' rights. Great Britain has an extensive compensation program and the Victim Support organization has volunteers that visit crime victims to assist them. In the Netherlands, prosecutors consider the wishes of the crime victims and can only dismiss a case if the victim is satisfied that a reasonable effort to be compensated had been made. Canada ensures that victims have their rights respected throughout the process, including in legislation that will prevent future victims.
