How can children's exposure to domestic violence impact intimate relationships when

they become adults?

What will be an ideal response?

Research shows a strong connection between childhood experiences of violence and violence in intimate relationships as adults. Boys who witness violence are three times more likely to use violence in their intimate relationships than those boys not exposed to family violence. This same research shows that violence can be generational. Sons of violent fathers have an estimated rate of female abuse 1,000 times higher than the sons of nonviolent fathers. On the other hand, girls who witness their mothers being abused may have a greater rate of tolerance for abuse in a relationship.
