Maslow’s hierarchy of needs could be applied to Kathryn’s life. Her love and esteem needs were not being met initially. Her career could also be examined through behaviorism. The idea of starting her own business was discouraged by her husband (punishment) and so she did not do it, but it was encouraged by her support group (reinforcement), which ultimately led her to fulfill her dream.
