What is Brexit? What are its potential repercussions?

What will be an ideal response?

Voters in the United Kingdom by a narrow margin voted to leave the European Union. This vote to leave is commonly known as Brexit. Those voting in favor of leaving the EU cited such issues as maintaining British sovereignty over financial matters and stricter border controls to keep out immigration. Opponents to Brexit (found mainly in urban areas such as London and in Scotland and Northern Ireland) cite the need for the United Kingdom to remain economically and politically incorporated within the larger Eurozone. The potential repercussions of Brexit range from both Scotland becoming independent and Northern Ireland joining the Republic of Ireland so as to remain part of the EU. Brexit has also been cited as a stimulus to embolden far right-wing nationalist parties (who usually have an anti-immigrant platform) across Europe, thus threatening the future stability of the entire European Union.
