Explain what the Timeline is and how it is used. Include a definition of the term keyframe in your response.
What will be an ideal response?
The Timeline is a panel at the bottom of the Flash window that is used to select frames and create specials kinds of frames called keyframes. Each numbered box in the Timeline represents a frame in the animation, similar to frames in a film reel or sheets of paper in a pad. Frames that display a dark solid circle are called keyframes. A keyframe defines a frame that contains an important part of an animation and acts as a starting or ending point for an animation. When you place objects on the stage at specific keyframes, you are telling Flash that at these points in time, this is exactly how things should look in the animation. For example, an animated airplane flying across the stage might have a keyframe at Frame 1 (where the airplane starts its journey) and another keyframe at Frame 30 (where it ends its journey). All the frames between would show the airplane at various stages of its journey as it animates across the stage.
