Per recommendations from the ACSM, minimal frequency should be 2-3 days per week; intensity of the stretch should be to the point of slight tension of mild tightness; each stretch should be held for 15-60 seconds with four or more repetitions of each stretch; and stretches should be done for each of the major muscle groups or joints, including the neck, shoulders, upper and lower back, pelvis, hips, and legs.
