Unaided communication systems are communications systems that are not external to the individual; in other words, unaided communication systems involve communication that an individual can do with his/her body. Examples include sign language, gestures, finger spelling, and manually coded English systems. Aided communication systems are then those communications systems that are external to an individual; in other words, involving a tool other than on one’s body. Examples of aided communication systems include PECS, picture symbols, apps, Proloquo2Go, Go Talk.
