What are the four assumptions in Holland’s theory of career development? How do these assumptions impact work satisfaction?
What will be an ideal response?
Response needs to include mention of the following: People tend to be one of six personality types; Six work environments that correspond to the personalities; People seek out environments that complement their personalities; and Behavior is determined by the personality-environment fit. These assumptions impact work satisfaction in that when personality types are congruent with work environment type, the individual is satisfied. Incongruence leads to dissatisfaction. Individuals want to feel a sense of value for their contributions and that their skills are utilized.
