How can effective listening improve a relationship? What tips are shared in the text?

What will be an ideal response?

Listening can improve a relationship by doing one or more of the following: Decreasing stress. Stress levels are reduced as ideas and feelings are communicated clearly and understood as intended; Increasing knowledge. We learn more about each other when we listen effectively. Each of us learns more about what the other responds to and how the other reacts to our ideas; Building trust. We all need someone to listen to us. We appreciate those who listen much more than those who fail to give us their complete attention. In fact, careful listening can be a reciprocal act: we pay closer attention to those who do the same for us, and we tend to avoid those who do not; Improving analysis and decision-making. Careful listening can provide you with information and insights that enable you to exercise better judgment. You are more likely to spot faulty reasoning and identify invalid arguments or gross appeals to prejudice when you listen critically. In the process, you protect yourself against others who may act irresponsibly. Careless listeners are more likely to end up accepting the unacceptable; Increasing confidence. When another person perceives you to be giving him or her your rapt attention and believes that you are open, alert, and actively involved, that person will be more comfortable interacting with you and more likely to share his or her feelings. By listening effectively, you also increase your own confidence and understanding. As you increase your comprehension of another’s ideas and feelings, you gain confidence in your ability to respond appropriately.
