Discuss cyber-bullying and cyber-stalking. What are the impacts of each of these on victims.

What will be an ideal response?

Cyber-bullying has therefore been defined as the willful and repeated harm inflicted through the medium of electronic text, in which hurtful content is disseminated to the victim. Those effected by cyber-bullying are likely to avoid places at school or school itself, experience psychological distress (e.g., depression, anxiety, reduced self-esteem), develop alcohol and drug problems, and contemplate or attempt actual self-harm. Cyber-stalking is the repeated pursuit of an individual using electronic or Internet-capable devices. Cyber-stalking can make victims feel intimidated, stressed or anxious. Its repetitive nature means victims often feel that they have lost a sense of control over their lives, never knowing when the stalker may appear or contact them again. The fact that the stalker can access the victim at any time from any distance undermines the victim’s sense of security and can lead to a constant feeling of fear for the victim.
