Describe the steps of the regeneration process of a damage peripheral nerve fiber

What will be an ideal response

The portion of the axon distal to the injury is degraded and cleaned up by Schwanncells and macrophages. Growth of new axon filaments is stimulated by growth factors released by Schwann cells. Schwann cells will form a regeneration tube that will guide and support the growth of a new axon and ultimately produce a new myelin sheath.
