Explain how color proportion relates to the idea of color combination in interior plantscaping
What will be an ideal response?
Whenever hues are combined––whether that means two colors that are very similar to each other and
low in contrast all the way through the combination of many, highly contrasting colors––the
proportion of colors used should vary. Allow one color to dominate within a setting to achieve success.
In working with interior plants, values of green most often will dominate a setting. Though this is the
case, any other color used in an installation––such as that in variegated foliage, planters, or flowers––
will stand out because it is the thing in the design that is different. Considering that plants are mostly
accents in interior design, odds are the color of the wall covering or carpet may dictate the dominant
color of the space.
