Describe how to make a template from tape before removing a nameplate.
What will be an ideal response?
Often in the course of a repair job, a technician must remove trim, molding, emblems, or name plates either in the paint department, or when new parts are replaced. Each item may require a different type of removal or special tools to remove it. If the trim or molding is to be reinstalled because it is not damaged, the technician must remove it without causing damage to the vehicle or the part. The part must also be replaced precisely. However, not all of the parts have pins or other locaters; therefore, a template can be made to help with the reinstallation of the removed part or the placement of a new one.
