Discuss three behavior patterns associated with successful aging

What will be an ideal response?

Many people demonstrate what is termed successful aging and avoid the potential problems of aging. One approach is selective optimization and compensation. In this approach, people acknowledge their limitations, make choices, and develop strategies to adjust. For example, using public transportation or other means of travel can replace driving a car. Someone may hire a neighborhood child to help out with tasks
around the house. Using weekly containers to hold medication can help someone take his or her medicine when needed. Attitude is also important. Maintaining a positive outlook is associated with greater satisfaction and a reduced risk of depression. Optimists deal with the challenges of aging better than pessimists, and live an average of 7.6 years longer. It is also important for older individuals to find new personal challenges and keep active. Challenging oneself reduces many of the problems associated with aging.
