After identifying a problem of practice, existing data should be analyzed to formulate an understanding of the problem. This may include collecting baseline data on a certain phenomenon, prior to implementing an intervention. After an intervention has been implemented, new data should be collected and analyzed in order to assess the impact of the intervention.
