A key part of the training the CSIRT is testing the IR plan. Briefly describe parallel testing and full interruption testing.

What will be an ideal response?

In the parallel test, individuals act as if an actual incident occurred, performing their required tasks and executing the necessary procedures without interfering with the normal operations of the business. Great care must be taken to ensure that the procedures performed do not halt the operations of the business functions, creating an actual incident.

In full-interruption testing, the individuals follow each and every procedure, including the interruption of service, restoration of data from backups, and notification of appropriate individuals.
