Why do plant roots populate the A horizon most heavily? What will be an ideal response?

The first reason is that the A horizon is very near the surface, so even small root systems can reach it.
The second is that the A horizon is rich in decomposed organic material which the plant can use to
meet its mineral nutrient needs. The third is that being near the surface means the A horizon will
wetted regularly during precipitation.
