This problem illustrates compression of graph signals using GFT. Assuming that the signal is smooth, we can store only the first K number of GFT coefficients (K < N), thus compressing the signal in frequency domain. For recovery of the signal from stored GFT coefficients, we take inverse GFT by considering the last ( N ? K) GFT coefficients as zero. Thus, the signal is approximated by a K-bandlimited signal while recovery. For a sufficiently smooth signal, we can achieve a good degree of compression.
