The commencement speech recognizes and celebrates the end of some training period for the audience members, such as their school or college years. It is designed to congratulate and inspire recent graduates and act as a transition into the next phase of their lives. Speakers are often well-known personalities, or sometimes exceptional students. Several steps apply to commencement speeches: 1) Organize the speech in a temporal pattern, particularly if you are discussing the past, present, and future. 2) Do your research. 3) Be brief. 4) Congratulate the graduates. 5) Motivate the graduates. 6) Offer your own personal good wishes.
