Describe what condition exists in water molecules to make then dipolar
What will be an ideal response?
The bent geometry of the water molecule between the oxygen atom and the two hydrogen atoms is the underlying cause of most of the unique properties of water. The bent geometry gives a slight overall negative charge to the side of the oxygen atom and a slight overall positive charge to the side of the hydrogen atoms. This slight separation of charge gives the water molecule an electrical polarity, thus water molecules are dipolar.
