• A major concern with the use of computers in career counseling is confidentiality. This problem can be solved with identification codes, passwords and general restrictions on individuals who may access client information.
• When using the Internet, the potential for violation of confidentiality is increased through inappropriate access to client records, e mail correspondence, client case notes, and client assessment information. Solutions include encryption programs, changing passwords frequently, and converting messages into code.
