He was able to separate from his mother when she dropped him off at daycare, was happy when his mother returned to pick him up from daycare, and sought out comfort from his mother when he was frightened at the zoo. Chelsea shows characteristics of ambivalent attachment. She is frightened of strangers, was very upset over being left at the daycare center, and continued to be upset even after her mother returned to pick her up at daycare.
