Most research has focused on the negative effects but there are some positive strides. First, prosocial content in shows has a positive effect on children's functioning in the following areas: altruism, positive social interactions, self-control, and combating negative stereotypes. Further, a positive effect of prosocial content was found to be equal or great than the negative effects of violent content.
