Remember addiction impacts a lot of life areas: relationships, diet, health, mental health, etc. A clinical team comprised of counselors, nurses, dieticians, physicians, and family therapists look at addiction through the lens of their special training. Having all disciplines involved in the assessment and planning ensures comprehensive holistic treatment.
