Permissive parents display tolerant, nonpunitive, and accepting attitudes toward their children’s behavior. They have few restrictions. Authoritative parents direct their children in a rational manner and promote open communication between parents and children. Neglecting parents are detached, with little involvement in their children’s lives or activities.
