Aging is a socially constructed social problem, but there are many ways aging can be manipulated from a problem to an asset. Based on the reading, name two steps that demonstrate the most efficacy when reconstructing the sociological understanding of aging.

What will be an ideal response?

Possible steps include:
advocacy: going to appropriate agencies with older individuals and assisting them in obtaining services due to them;
internships or volunteering: become involved with organizations that promote active and engaged aging; and
service learning: service learning provides benefits to both the student and the recipient of the services. Beyond the service provided is the learning that occurs. In other words, take what you have learned in the classroom and apply it in the broader world of aging.
