Describe some traits that allowed amniotes to adapt to life in dry places
What will be an ideal response?
They have lungs, rather than gills, throughout their life. Their skin is rich in keratin, a protein that makes it waterproof. A pair of well developed kidneys help conserve water, and fertilization usually takes place inside the female's body. Amniotes produce eggs in which an embryo develops bathed in fluid, so amniotes can develop on dry land. A series of membranes within the egg function in gas exchange, nutrition, and waste removal.
