At a minimum, answers should address the four types of maltreatment: physical abuse (the injury or
death of a child, not by accident), sexual abuse (any act of sexual contact of any type toward a child),
emotional abuse (chronic acts or attitudes by caregivers that interferes with or impedes the psychological
or social development of a child), and neglect (inadequate or dangerous child-rearing practices by
caregivers). Also, answers should identify and define acute trauma (a single traumatic event that is time
limited), chronic trauma (varied and multiple traumatic events, often occurring over time), and complex
trauma (chronic trauma caused by adults or caregivers of children, which is long-term in nature).
Examples of the various forms of trauma and maltreatment will vary.
