What are the characteristics of 3G technology for data communications?

What will be an ideal response?

The characteristics of 3G technology for data communications are as follows:
* Coverage areas-3G wireless technology is not available on a widespread basis yet in the United States. It is estimated that by the middle of 2007 all major metropolitan areas in the United States will have 3G service available.
* Throughput-Speeds range on average from 400 to 700 Kbps for data coming into the device (downlink) up to a maximum of 2 Mbps. Data being sent out from the wireless device (uplink) is at a much slower speed of only 80 to 140 Kbps.
* Devices-A PC Card 3G wireless modem is required for laptop computers to access the 3G data network.
