Briefly describe feudalism.
What will be an ideal response?
Answers will vary. Land holding barons or liege lords granted tenure to some of their land to their vassals who swore allegiance to their liege and provided military service for the land and the protection. These vassals in turn could grant some of their fief (land) to others and become in turn lesser lords with vassals beholden to them. All this was sustained by the peasants and reflected the agricultural basis of early medieval society.
