Briefly describe the five strategies used by the pro-life activists to eliminate or reduce abortions.

What will be an ideal response?

The five basic strategies used by pro-life activists are; (1) funding restrictions; (2) parental consent, spousal notification, and procedural requirements; (3) the Human Life Amendment; (4) a ban on partial birth abortions; and (5) disruptive action against abortion providers.
The most notable example of funding restrictions is the Hyde Amendment forbidding the expenditure of any federal money for abortions under most circumstances. Another strategy involves denying funds to organizations, such as family planning agencies, that make referrals for abortions and granting funds to organizations that oppose abortions.
The second strategy is to restrict abortion by requiring parental consent for a minor to have an abortion or notification of the husband of the married woman seeking abortion.
The third strategy is to make abortion difficult or unpleasant by providing information-for example, information on the fetal development or medical or psychological consequences of abortion.
The fourth strategy used by opponents of abortion is to champion the Human Life Amendment to the Constitution, which would prohibit all abortions.
The fifth strategy is an effort to ban partial birth abortions, or other broadly defined procedures.
Yet another strategy involves disruption, such as picketing and engaging in acts of civil disobedience outside abortion clinics, Planned Parenthood facilities, or the home of physicians who perform abortions.
